Superbowl and Rockband: Ain't Nothing But a Chicken Wing

Hello friends and neighbors! Thanks for dropping by to hear the nitty gritty about this years Superbowl with Mr. Bat and his amazing compadres!

This years Superbowl event was almost a no go due to the awful Snowpocalypse that was shutting down the world we call T-town. Mr. Bat was making things work as best he could, and I Ms. Bat was cooking as best I could. Much had to be done, if we were to pull off the small gathering event of the Football season. In short, drinks and wings were needed. Supplies at Starbase were getting low.

And so one day prior to the event, Mr. and Ms. Bat ventured forth on foot, wary for any dangers that might be lurking in the snow banks. Various snacks and drinks were needed to ensure sustained lifespan. The adventurers only had one moment that gave them pause when it seems that La Fours was using melting snow to detain any and all "suspicous" individuals. Sadly for La Fours, Mr and Ms Bat were fast thinkers, and dodged the trap by cutting through a snowy tundra leading back to Starbase.

Once back to Starbase, the communicator was used to contact Wing Stop to order the Superbowl Wings and talk to J-Dog. Finding a shuttle to the base, J-Dog came to the rescue and helped to disloge the USS Batavan from its snowy prison. With the launch area cleared, we adjourned inside to finish a dinner of BBQ Pork and Potato Soup. A trial run of the USS Batavan was called for and we made the trip to the 21st Harvard sector to see J-Dog home safe. Travel was mostly secure through the sectors despite a large quantaty of Snowpocalypse debris.

Superbowl Sunday dawned cold but clear. A quick contact to the delivery service You Buy We Fly confirmed a 1600 hours pickup for the celebratory eats. Mr Bat ventured forth in the USS Batavan to pickup J-Dog, Tenacious B and "the Snitch" for the afternoon celebrations. As a return of Snowpocalypse was a concern, provisions were brought with and picked up and the local market to ensure the survival of all members of the Starbase crew. Froggy was in and out of Starbase due to a crazed slave driver requiring he brave Snowpocalypse and make pizzas for University students who would dare risk themselves in the storm for sustenence.

Ms Bat had already baked several sheets of cookies, to the delight of everyone. There was much snacking to be had. J-Dog deciding to make use of the Snowpocalypse leftovers, made a cooler from its remains at the door of Starbase. It amused the Admiral and his wife who had stopped by to return some Media files to Mr Bat. More media was exchanged and then the Admiral and his lady were on thier way.

Superbowl started with some ceremony. There was singing and bands playing. Lea Michelle sang "O beautiful" which went over well despite her being dressed and made up to look much older than she is. She was followed by Christina Aguillera who trashed the USA National Anthem by forgetting words and over doing the trills and scales. Starbase was rooting for the Steelers, but alas it was not to be. The Half Time Show was even more disappointing. The Black Eyed Peas are good recording artists but CANNOT give a decent live show. Fergie trashed Sweet Child Of Mine and it was pondered from the Starbase folk just how much did they pay Slash to endure that? In the end it was a bit of a close call but the Green Bay Packers won the Superbowl.

Following the game, Rockband for Wii was put on and the whole crew got involved. "The snitch" dressed up with scarves and hats, even dresses and rocked the mic for a few songs. Mr Bat rocked the drums, then the keyboards and J-dog was working the Bass. Tenacious B decided to be the group photographer. Ms. Bat was on vocals and keyboards for most of the night, but she did attempt drums at one point. Everyone was having fun, even Froggy who joined in the fun to recreate some old memories for Mr. Bat and J-Dog. Everyone had a blast until it was after midnight and everyone needed sleep.

And so this brings the Tale of Superbowl Wings to a close. As Mr. Bat is fond of saying, "Be Excellent to Eachother!"

New Years Clip Show Highlight issue from 2010

Happy New Year Friends and Neighbors!

So another year has passed and here we are. This year was quite - and I know we say this often – but it was the stuff of legends. 2010 was chock full of good times and fun stuff. Sure there was a bit of bad mixed it, but they can’t all be winners now can they?

January was nice and cold. Coming off of a blizzard, our heroes were fighting for new causes. The celebrations of Sorinzo’s new gig to be in Feburary with Mr. White in DeathStar Radio and the OSU adventures of Mr. Bat and Tommy Mac were highlights. This month also saw the commission of the USS Batavan to Mr. Bat, rectifying an oversight of nearly two years.

Feburary’s tales included such awesomeness as McNellie’s and the Blue Dome hosting a Mardi Gras parade. The first in Tulsa (in recent memory) this was quite the fun event. Dancing up and down the street, our heroes Mr. Bat, Tenacious B, Tommy Mac, Cabot and Froggy Frogg checked out the festivities and then partied at the Pink Body Paint party for the remainder of the evening. Quite an epic engagement, all of the crew enjoyed the dancing, beads and most excellent free drinks given to us!

March came in like a passant lion and went out like a rampant lion! St Patrick’s Day was emboldened as to be the birthday celebration for Liz, Dr. O’s fiancée! So there was much celebrating this event. Mr. Bat and Tommy Mac were joined by Froggy Frogg in drinking some green corn whiskey and riding the trolley with Scooby for the remainder of the evening. By the end of March our heroes were on the precipice of some real game changing events, all of which would happen in the first weeks of April.

April was the moment in which the world changed dramatically. The first issue featured Ray’s last year extravaganza! Here is an excerpt from that amazing issue!

<Photo 3>

The crew manifest for this evening consisted of Froggy Frogg, Franz (who made the journey all the way from OKC), Mr. Bat, Tommy Mac, The Hofgoblin, Tenacious B and Sorinzo. There was also a cameo by Mr. White early in the episode. The first stop was Quick Trip wherein many drink cases could be gathered. Next stop: Empire!

At Empire, we awaited the Trolley. Scooby was out of the sector, but was on the way so we had a drink. Soon Mr. Bat was met by what could only be described as a dirty hobo. No, not Lobo the Hobo, but Corley the Goat. The years have not been kind to this guy, he clearly had been living on the street for quite a while. Narrowly averting a bar fight, the type of which had not been seen since the Klingons did battle with the crew on K7, our heroes left to join the Trolley.

On the Trolley, the beer flowed. Sorinzo joined the Trolley with a cheer as he brought cases of Amber Bock, Killians Red and the largest tall can ever aboard. Off we went.

Now the events on the Trolley were so epic I can not describe them in full here. I instead will give a recap of the ride. There is no way to know how many new people joined the party along the way, but at last count was over 40.

There was a sing-a-long of Dropkick Murphy’s, The Grease Soundtrack and Appetite for Destruction.

The party stopped by Pink, Mercury Lounge, Enso, The Electric Circus, The Hunt Club, Lola’s, The Brook, Crow Creek, Empire, The Crystal Pistol, Sound Pony, Dirty’s, Arnies and Another Round. Four cases of Beer were consumed.

A stop at the Center of the Universe included a chant and group photos, not to mention some questionable evacuations of the bladder.

A round of “Seven Drunken Nights” was sung by the Frogg and Kelly with the rest joining.

There was dancing, there was toasting.

No less than three QuikTrip stops were made to refuel the drinks.

After many hours of an fantastic voyage, our heroes realized that it was The party was to return to Starbase 523. But when all of the crew were back at the van, somebody was missing! The Hofgoblin was not on board, he was lost!

Tommy Mac ran out seeking the drunken Hofgoblin. Asking the ladies on the Trolley where he went, they pointed out that he was about to get assaulted by three drunk D-bags. As Mr. Bat pulled the van around, the crew bailed out to assist the Hofgoblin.

The Team was ready for action. Tommy Mac jumped into the middle of the group encircling the Hofgoblin. Froggy Frogg charged into the fray asking “What’s up” to the trio of D-bags. That along with Franz, Tenacious B and Sorinzo made the trio back off quickly. Now they were “just messing around” and wanted nothing to do with beating up the .

The crew returned to the van and though Froggy was halfway out of the window yelling at the fools, they left the scene and stopped to use the restrooms at Whataburger. With a final statement of “People of Whataburger, Stay Cool and Be Excellent to Each Other!” by Mr. Bat, the team returned to Starbase 523. They thought they would witness no more events, however on the way by White Owl, they saw pair of hobo’s fighting in the street. Crazy times.

            What was not revealed in this issue was that Franz and Tenacious B had been talking about a possible romantic interlude. This of course was not heard about for another month or more. What was known was that in a few days was 80’s Prom and that was the highest priority of the season. It was great. Mr. Bat had invited Nina the Pirate Ninja and Melisande, hoping to get to know the Pirate Ninja better. They had been talking for some months over text messages and fleeting visits with Melisande, so he was quite interested in her, but of course he needed help. That is where the Frogg came in. As Mr. Bat and Froggy Frogg Double Dare suited up, Mr Bat asked Froggy to fly as wingman. Froggy said he was willing to jump on any hand grenades for his Bro in this endeavor. Here is segment from that issue!

<Photo 2>

Yours truly joined the great Froggy Frogg in paying tribute to one of the greatest game show ever, Double Dare. We were joined by many of the most awesome friends in the scene. Patty B was first on the scene in a wild and crazy pink number complete with a side of the head pony tail.

Soon we were joined by Nina the Pirate Ninja and Melisande. Nina brought together a fishnet show with a turquoise over tunic in true 80’s perfection, whilst Melisande channeled Molly Ringwald to that Breakfast Club essence. Other heroes on site included the ever apropos Jamison, Sorinzo bringing back Inspector Gadget, Crystal and Mr. White.

So we rocked the party to the music played by Robbo, Lynn K, Kylie and the rest. The number of photos that we took with the patrons was astounding. Turns out tons of folks loved Double Dare. The biggest flaw to the place was the bar. Unfortunately the place was understaffed and the lines were forever long. Still the shining gem of the bartending staff was Jen, who was able to make very good drinks with exceptional ability.

            So it came to pass that that evening, as Nina and Melisande were to leave for OKC, goodbyes were had. Nina took a chance, a daring dash of a kiss before she left. As per her account – she just had to know. Mr. Bat was elated. Now the hard part, with her leaving for OKC and 80’s prom a year away, our hero had to find another way to see her.

            It seemed like serendipity was in the cards, as the Pirate Ninja was indeed seeking to return herself. It came to pass that she would indeed make a guest appearance the next week. Much of that report was redacted by Section 31, however what can be recalled was truly legendary. Dr. O was amazed – so much that he had to sneak a peek at Nina’s ID card before she awoke to ensure she was real. Mr. Bat and the Pirate Ninja walked for what seemed like miles and saw the sights of Tulsa. A fleeting, all too short weekend it was.

            May arrived, heralded by one of the greatest attacks on our heroes. Froggy Frogg had us go to a house party at Arkham Asylum, wherein he got attacked by a crazy punk chick.

The party was not at all epic. The venue was a small house with a deck in the back. The term given by Jamison – who did not approve – was “Weak sauce.” As our heroes were treated to the gaggle of drunk antisocial miscreants, the Frogg was accosted by what can only be described as the Punk Bizznitch. This villainous female assaulted the Frogg with a quick slap to his face! Dumfounded by this surprise attack, Froggy was unaware that a secondary attack was quick to follow. It was at this time that our heroes decided to leave Arkham for greener pastures, lest a battle breakout.

            Later in May, it was well known that Mr. Bat and the Pirate Ninja were involved in a romantic storyline. It was several weeks before Nina could return to Tulsa, but they wanted to see each other. As luck would have it, Franz came into town that weekend for what seemed like a supplementary visit. It was then disclosed that Franz had been seeing Tenacious B every weekend since the Frogg’s Birthday! Realizing that Mr. Bat had only one week until classes started again for the summer semester and that Tommy Mac would be heading to OKC on Wednesday of the following week in order to visit the Zoo with Isla, Mr. Bat hatched a plan. He commissioned a ride to OKC with Franz. He knew it was a one way trip – and having little money to speak of, he still came packed bag and prepared. Franz agreed to this, having made the Kessel run in 18 minutes. He also made a deal that upon the repair of the Batavan, Mr. Bat might bring Tenacious B to OKC. What a wonderful arrangement indeed.

            Mr. Bat surprised Nina with his unexpected visit. Franz in true smuggler fashion came up to her at Penn Station and introduced himself. She had never met him and was shocked until she saw the cargo he brought. Then she was very happy. Mr. Bat spent a few days in OKC sector at Greenbase. It was Admiral Breitenbach who came to pick up Mr. Bat for his return home.

Next came Nina’s Birthday party. Mr. Bat had to go, but alas the Batavan could not make it. Still the Bat would not let this get him down. Gathering whatever he could, he made the trip. A little subterfuge and the use of Melisande’s poker face (or lack thereof) he made Nina believe he could not make her party, only to walk up next to her at Red Lobster. She was happy and hit him too – awesome. Good times.

The Season Finale came during sweeps. Dr. O and Liz were to be wed. So of course the event was epic. First came the Bachelor Party, where Dr. O cancelled at the last minute. Oh no! It seemed that there may be trouble with the impending nuptials! That evening it was disclosed that Franz was dropped from Tenacious B’s storyline as well. Trouble for all of our heroes this time folks.

            Things turned out better in the end, however for Dr. O. After a rough start it was the night of Liz’s Bachelorette Party that Dr. O, Sorinzo, the Frogg and Mr. Bat held an impromptu party for Dr. O. Dr. O was so excited that he drank too much and spent the night in the bathtub. That is about all of the events of the evening that can be written about here. Trust me, Friends and Neighbors, it was Astonishing!

<Photo 4>

            The day of the wedding was grand. The crew gathered together to help set up and witness the happy day. Everyone was in attendance. Even Nina was able to come in from OKC for the event. The reception was met with dancing, garter and bouquet tossing. One mission was held, wherein Sorinzo was to gather items to vandalize the happy couple’s car. Unfortunately this mission had to be aborted due to timing. The O’s even made an appearance at the after party, DJ’d by DJ This.

June saw a large amount of back and forth events in both OKC and Tulsa. Nina the Pirate Ninja rechristened herself Ms. Bat. A lot of driving for Mr. Bat and the Batavan was seen. Thus also we saw the renovation of the restroom at Starbase 523. With the help of the Admiral and Froggy Frogg, Mr. Bat managed to re-tile and replace the entire bathroom wall – insofar as to add a new wall and shower. The new room is not completed, though the remainder is all cosmetic accentuation. Mr. Bat also worked with Franz to restore the romantic arc with Tenacious B.

July was hot and droll as usual. Ms. Bat went on a week long excursion to New Mexico to visit family, whilst the renovations of Starbase 523 continued. Over mega issuewe saw a crossover from the Tulsa cast and the OKC cast as Tommy Mac, Isla, Franz and Tenacious B joined Mr. Bat, Ms. Bat and Melisande for fast times at Bricktown! Much drink merriment! Ms. Bat moved in with the Duplex Drama Queen and much more driving was done. Mr. Bat debuted as mobile party liason one week as he played music from the Batavan outside of the Penn Station for a dance party. Epic!

August was hot as can be. Deathstar Radio continued to party every Monday and Mr. Bat even joined in one week as a guest Party Liaison to spin some mashup mixes. It was that month that Mr. Bat and Ms. Bat went on a trip to the Sorrell Sector, in what was called “How I Met Her Mother” by Mr. Bat. The trip was awesome. Mr. Bat did battle with at least one of her Evil Exes and they saw many sights. The Ocean was grand, truly nice. The return trip was a nightmare. The Batavan suffered from extreme power failure as the panels all went dark. Stranded outside a McDonalds in Texas is nowhere to be. Leatherface and the Hewitt’s were no doubt just around the corner. Still with a little help from their friends, the two heroes made it to San Antonio for the night.

Gouged by high prices and shady deals, it looked like the end for our heroes until a legitimate repairman managed to fix the Batavan. The intrepid explorers returned to find Starbase 523 hot and bothered by a nearly naked Frogg. That night – party at the circus.

September brought us the Supercade - Two nights, two cities, one big party. The crew visited upon us a great event. Dancing and singing and drinking some fine beers. So much occurred this month that it is hard to re-cap. The most game changing event of the season was the moving of Ms. Bat to Starbase 523. After months of chewing of things by the Targs and other indignities (not to mention theft) at the hands of the Duplex Drama Queen, Ms. Bat was finally freed. A transfer was made and our heroine was now a full time cast member!

October was amazing. The State fair with the Gin Blossoms, the opening of Fassler Hall and Oktoberfest were among the highlighted events. Jamison single handedly breaking a table was a feat of strength!

Mr. Bat made a declaration of intent that one day soon he planned to ask to add an “r” to the “Ms.” of Ms. Bat. Did that mean more than he thought? It would appear so in some respects. Still according to the series Wiki nothing is official just yet—but then again what does official mean…

Halloween was a great event – showing Hades and Persephone taking over Olympus for the evening. Poseidon, Hermes, Apollo and Dionysus were nothing compared to Ares and Athena – as shown by the avatar of G.W. Bush and Sarah Palin. Humor indeed.

<Photo 5>

November and December were a mix of holiday extravagance. The Nemeans gathered together to celebrate 10 years as more than just a faction. What’s more – the battery acid was consumed. Nobody died. Ms. Bat created a great Thanksgiving episode. Maarek and Franny shocked everyone with the very special episode “Early Arrival” in which V. F.W. entered the world nearly a week early. The heroes were called to action against the evil villains who would boycott McNellies over the change of the Parade of Lights. Our heroes fought to spread the word and hopefully some folks changed their minds away from the evil mind control of the HATERS.

Festivus saw the return of Roxyrose from the Arctic North. It was a Festivus of awesomeness as Fritz and company had a great time. Mr. White and Sorinzo took down Frtiz in the feats of strength. Good times. Another Festivus Miracle occurred a week later as Captain Coronado himself returned to port from a voyage of some many years. What legendary adventures he is having on his show! The last bit of big news – Tommy Mac and Isla are finally officially engaged! So that leads us to the final night. It has yet to be written what happened on New Years Eve, but I assure you Friends and Neighbors, it will be awesome.

So there you have it, a clip show of the highlights and talking points of 2010. Many exciting issues are on the way this next year. Keep tuned and keep reading!

And as always,

Be Excellent to Each Other!
